DIESEL S.A. is a company that was established in January 2001. Prior to
this we had been experimenting and studying the method of producing biodiesel
for commercial use.
Extensive time and capital has been spent in visiting various countries to obtain information and experience in the successful manufacture of alternate fuels. This research is done in aid of developing alternate fuel substitutes for the industrial and commercial markets. Most of the knowledge has been obtained from the United States of America and Malaysia.
It is our intention to work within the parameters of the South African Government Legislation to produce alternate fuels that would lead to a less polluted environment and healthier lifestyle.
Experiments with biodiesel
distilled from used cooking oil proved most encouraging.
Unlimited demand for biodiesel prompted investigation into alternative sources
of oil.
At issue was the procurement of an affordable, preferably non-edible oil to
make the distillation of biodiesel economically viable. Sunflower seed for
example, would be too expensive for the process.
The search led us to Jatropha curcas, a tough, drought-resistant plant that
bears oil-rich seeds prolifically under optimum growing conditions.
