Increasingly
stringent emission controls in the United States and the European Union are
aimed at reducing exhaust gasses harmful to man and the environment. Of concern
are the carbonaceous particulates, the main component of the characteristic
black smoke, unburned hydrocarbons, and sulfates.
The use of biodiesel
in a conventional diesel engine results in substantial reduction of unburned
hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter. Emissions of nitrogen
oxides are either slightly reduced or slightly increased depending on the
duty cycle of the engine and testing methods employed.
Moreover, biodiesel emissions also register decreases in the levels of polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and nitrited PAH compounds between 75-85%.
Depeting fossil reserves
Fossil
fuels such as diesel and petrol will soon become too expensive for most
people
to afford. Fossil fuel could become unaffordable as early as 2010.
We will soon pass the halfway point in world oil extraction. This is the point when we have consumed more than half the available, affordable oil in existence. When we pass the halfway point, the 5 main oil producing Middle Eastern nations will control the oil market. These nations will undoubtedly use their control to increase world oil prices, a move which could result in a permanent, international oil shock.
If the world wide rate of consumption of oil remained constant at the current
amount of 24 billion barrels of oil per year. We would run out of oil in
2040. But consumption is not static. Instead it is increasing by about
2% per year. Even our rate of increase is increasing. Demand for oil will
overshoot supply well before 2040. At some point between 2010 and 2025,
all fuel from fossil oil will be too expensive for the average person or
business to afford. Exactly when that point comes will depend largely on
the actions of the Middle Eastern countries.

When we use fossil fuels, we send our money overseas and get fuel in return. We do this because our economy is unable to produce enough fossil fuels. In time to come when our currency is too weak to prove viable in purchasing foreign fossil fuel we will be forced to look elsewhere for any energy source. Bio Diesel S.A. you can be sure, will be involved in producing a renewable fuel which will assist in keeping our money in the country and growing our own economy. (See future of Bio Diesel)
